Where is the hall located.
We are on Bexley High Street, our full address is Freemantle Hall, Bexley High Street, Bexley Village, Kent. DA5 1AA.
How many people does the hall accommodate.
The main hall seats between 100 and 120 depending on the layout and the back room 25.
Can I hire on a regular basis.
We hire on a regular basis for “Block” bookings either daily, weekly, monthly.
Can I hire for just a few hours.
Our minimum hire is 3hrs in a morning, afternoon or evening.
Do you hire on a weekend.
Yes, we hire both Saturdays and Sundays.
Can I park at the hall.
We have an adjoining small gated car park that can accommodate between 8 and 12 cars.
Can I book a children’s party for a short time.
Kid’s parties can be booked in minimum blocks of four hours, which can be extended depending on your needs and times can be flexed to fit your needs.
Can I have a bouncy castle and entertainer.
We allow bouncy castles, soft play and entertainers of all kinds. We do not allow confetti canons.
Are there age limits on kid’s parties.
We allow parties up to 10 years of age.
What type of hire do you decline.
We have a policy of no weddings, adult parties, wakes or religious groups.
Can I consume alcohol on the premises.
Alcohol is permitted but you should be aware of some simple rules. If you will be providing alcohol to the public or selling it in any way you need a licence (Temporary Event Notice) from Bexley Council. You or private guests may consume alcohol at your event eg adults at a kid’s party, an event where guests bring their own drink.
What facilities does the kitchen have.
There is a Ceramic hob and two sinks both with hot and cold (drinking) water. We do not supply tea towels, crockery or cutlery and we do not have an oven or fridge. There is plenty of room for catering and you may bring your own electricals.
Are there facilities for loading and unloading.
You may do so direct from our car park via a very wide fire exit door.
What about disabled users.
There is wide direct access from the side of the hall. The kitchen and rear room are accessed via several steps and therefore not suitable for wheelchairs. We regrettably do not have a specific disability toilet.
Are the toilets modern given the hall is over 100 years old.
Both toilets were modernised in 2020.
Have you got tables and chairs.
We have 120 modern stacking chairs and 30 lightweight aluminium folding tables that measure about 6ft x 2ft (1.8m x 600mm) and 10 smaller meter squared tables.
Do I pay a deposit when booking.
A booking payment in full must be made at the time of the booking. We also require a security deposit of between £100-£300 depending on the type of event. This deposit is usually collected a month before the date of your hire and are refunded after your event providing the hall is not damaged and you have met all other requirements.
What’s the latest hire time for the hall.
Weekdays 10:30pm and weekends 11pm.
Can I gain access to the hall before my hire time to decorate the hall or have items delivered.
You must allow for any extra time required when making your booking.
How do I get access on the day.
When the security deposit is paid you will be given a fob which is programmed for the date and time of your specific hire. This fob will only allow you access to the hall at the time of your hire not one minute before.
Do you give discounts to charities.
As a charity ourselves we do not generally offer discounts of any kind.
Do you allow smoking in the car park.
Smoking is permitted and we provide a bin for the waste. By law no smoking is permitted in the hall.
Is the hall heated.
From October to April the hall is heated, although this can be varied depending on the weather. The heating can be controlled remotely.
Can we play music in the hall.
Yes you may play live and recorded music,
