Where is the hall located.
We are on Bexley Village High Street between Bar Lorca and the King’s Head PH. Our full address is The Freemantle Hall, Bexley High Street, Bexley Village, Kent. DA5 1AA.
How many people does the hall accommodate.
The main hall measures 16.3 x 9.4m (54ft x 30ft) and the rear (committee) room is 7.3 x 3.8 (25ft x 12ft). The main hall seats between 100 and 120 depending on the layout and the committee room about 25. As a guide we suggest numbers are limited to 100 for comfort.
Can I hire on a regular basis.
We hire on a regular basis for “Block” bookings either daily, weekly, monthly or occasional hires that number at least 6 a year. We do not charge for weeks not used e.g. school holidays, subject to agreement.
Can I hire for just a few hours.
We prefer to hire for a morning, afternoon or evening in the week but can accommodate 1 or 2 hours depending on the day and other bookings. We do short hires for children’s parties.
Do you hire on a weekend.
We hire both Saturdays and Sundays but do not accept weekly block hires so as to allow greater flexible use by the wider community. Weekend time slots are by arrangement.
Can I park at the hall.
We have an adjoining small gated car park that can accommodate between 8 and 12 cars depending on your driving skills!
Can I book a children’s party for a short time.
Kid’s parties can be booked any weekend day and are for 3 or 4 hours depending on your needs. Rates are very attractive and times can be flexed to fit your entertainment.
Can I have a bouncy castle and entertainer.
Kid’s parties would not be complete without bouncy castles, entertainers, bubble machines or children’s discos and we welcome these.
Are there age limits on kid’s parties.
We allow parties up to 10 years of age and the kid’s can bring the adults!
Can I book a Wake or a Sunday Christening.
We welcome both hires.
What type of hire do you decline.
We have a policy of no weddings, adult parties, and religious Sunday hires on a weekly basis.
Can I consume alcohol on the premises.
Alcohol is permitted but you should be aware of some simple rules. If you will be providing alcohol to the public or selling it in any way you need a licence (Temporary Event Notice) from Bexley Council. You or private guests may consume alcohol at your event eg adults at a kid’s party, an event where guests bring their own drink.
What facilities does the kitchen have.
There is a Ceramic hob and an electric kettle plus two sinks and hot and cold (drinking) water. We do not supply tea towels, crockery or cutlery and we do not have an oven or fridge. There is plenty of room for catering and you may bring your own electricals.
Are there facilities for loading and unloading.
You may do so direct from our car park via a very wide fire exit door.
What about disabled users.
We have a disability bell for assistance as the main entrance from the street has a small step. However, there is wide direct access from the side of the hall. The kitchen and rear room are accessed via several steps and therefore not suitable for wheelchairs. We regrettably do not have a specific disability toilet.
Are the toilets modern given the hall is over 100 years old.
The heated ladies toilets are very modern with two cubicles, two sink basins, hand driers and obviously all toilets have hot and cold water, soap and toilet paper. The heated gent’s toilet is modern with a single cubicle, two urinals, wash basin and hand drier.
Have you got tables and chairs.
We have 120 modern stacking chairs and 30 lightweight aluminium folding tables that measure about 6ft x 2ft (1.8m x 600mm) similar to those in schools – made by Gopak.
Do I pay a deposit when booking.
A booking payment in full must be made at the time of the booking. We do not generally require a security deposit (£150) other than for Christenings and we advise if applicable at the time of booking. Security deposits are payable a month before the hire date.
What’s the latest hire time for the hall.
Weekdays 10:30pm and weekends 11pm.
Can I gain access to the hall before my hire time to decorate the hall or have items delivered.
You must allow for any extra time required when making your booking but it may be possible to have some deliveries, at your risk, before the hire.
How do I get access on the day.
For all hires access is via an electronic lock monitored by CCTV. All hirers have access via a unique PIN advised with confirmation of hire and a reminder by Text a few days in advance of the hire date.
Do you give discounts to charities.
If you are a registered charity we will discount the rate by 20% although this is at our discretion.
Do you allow smoking in the car park.
Smoking is permitted and we provide a bin for the waste. By law no smoking is permitted in the hall.
Is the hall heated.
From October to April the hall is heated by LST radiators (safety low surface temperature) although this can be varied depending on the weather. During the year we can set the heating temperature to your requirements.
Can we play music in the hall.
Yes you may play live and recorded music,

What type of main hall floor do you have.
The main hall has an oak wooden suspended floor renewed in 2012. The committee room has a carpeted wooden floor.
Do you have WI-FI in the hall for users.
Yes we provide free WI-FI for Users/Guests. Details are in the main hall.
